Throughout the semester we have been talking about stereotypes of Southerners and the infamous 'redneck'. However, recently we have started reading Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison and it shows the life of poor southerners. The same people who are deemed as ‘rednecks’. After reading this book do you think these stereotypes might actually be true?
